The Water Justice Manifesto
In the run-up to the March 2023 UN Water Conference in New York, Water Justice Movements around the world have come together to amplify the voices of water defenders and frontline communities and to call on all those present at the conference to address the issues we see as fundamental to achieving water justice for all.
The People’s Water Forum is a coordinating space for Water Justice Movements around the world.
Building on more than two decades of opposition to the corporate capture of global water governance at the World Water Forum, held every three years, Global Water Justice Movements have come together to form a permanent People’s Water Forum.
In March 2023, the UN will host its first water conference in more than four decades to assess progress on Sustainable Development Goal 6 – Universal access to Water and Sanitation. We will be there in-person and virtually to fight for the realization of the Human Rights to Water and Sanitation and its understanding as a common good and to hold institutions accountable.
In advance of the 2023 UN Water Conference the People’s Water Forum has launched ‘Blue February’ a campaign to challenge the mainstream water governance agenda, which has been captured by water corporations and other private interests, and to fight for water justice !
